Hope
What are you hoping for this Holiday Season? Is it a renewed marriage, a reunified family, conquering an addiction, relief from anxiety and depression, or maybe being able to be free from the haunting trauma of an abusive relationship? If you are hoping for one of these things to happen than you have much in common with the clients at Beacon of Hope.
Our clients come with many struggles and from many different backgrounds. But they have one thing in common with us all, they are people, and a people in need of healing. To say it another way, a people that should be able to receive help from competent mental health workers without having to worry about how they might afford the service.
Beacon of Hope is the place people like this receive hope. And its not just any kind of hope – it’s a Living Hope – one that does not end and brings promises of eternity. Hope also comes at a price that is paid for by the kind and generous hearts of many. This past year Beacon of Hope has offered 5,033 client sessions. Using the average rate of $150 per session – this would mean our budget would at a bare minimum have to be $754,950. Beacon of Hope, however, has accomplished this on a budget of $283,000. This is truly a loaves and fishes type of story.
Only Jesus can accomplish that many sessions with that little amount of funding. How do we do it? We have a training program for future Kingdom workers. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Beacon of Hope has developed a training ground to bring up master level students under the tutelage of Fully Licensed LPCs. To date, Beacon has worked with 19 different institutions of higher learning and has welcomed 130 students. Each student spends on average 10-12 months with the ministry and then goes out into the world to use their craft for the Kingdom. You cannot make this stuff up – it’s an amazing well run machine. No one is doing this model and we ask why. Its hard work and its thankless work, plus its work that is not highly compensated – it’s missional. We are training disciples and sending them out.
We all need to get behind this work so more can experience the Hope of Glory, the One and Only True Hope – Jesus Christ. Jesus has given you the means to get this work done. Let’s share together in this. We do the work in the fields – you be our supplier. And together we will glean a harvest that we cannot even begin to imagine. Be a part of the change – begin supporting or continue supporting Beacon of Hope.
Blessings on your generosity,
Kyle Thompson EdD LPC
