Kyle Thompson, EdD, LPC

Executive Director, Counselor
Serving Holland & Muskegon

After many years of working in the business world, Kyle felt the call to go into counseling. He answered that call and completed his MA from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and Ed.D in Ethical Leadership at Olivet Nazarene University. While completing his MA, Kyle worked closely with troubled youth through the juvenile programs at Ottawa County Family Court, which created a deep passion for working with teens. ⠀

Upon completion of his state licensure, Kyle took his passion to the community and formed Beacon of Hope. This passion, coupled with a no-refuse attitude, led to the belief that no one who desires help with counseling should go without services. Since 2001 Beacon of Hope has been providing no-cost, Christ-centered counseling to those in need.⠀

In addition to counseling, Kyle has also done teaching, coaching, and preaching. He has served as an interim pastor, church treasurer, youth worker, board member, and janitor. Kyle resides in West Michigan with his wife, Kristin, and their two daughters. Together, they enjoy traveling, bike rides, Michigan football, being silly, and supporting one another’s activities.

Jasmine Burgess, MA, LPC

Supervisor
Serving Lansing & Portland

Jasmine interned at Beacon in 2013, started volunteering as an LLPC in 2014, and joined our staff as a supervisor in 2018. She graduated from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 2014 and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Jasmine works with a wide variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, marriage issues, suicidality, self-harm, PTSD, Bipolar, family systems issues, and spiritual warfare. She really enjoys the challenge of helping clients work through their various issues and seeing their growth and gains in confidence through a faith-based perspective.

As a supervisor, Jasmine loves the opportunity to pour into newly molded counselors and gives them a listening ear to ask questions, figure out problems, vent, and discuss strategies for solutions to a client’s situation. She strives to support interns and help them to build their confidence as they develop and grow into their skill sets.

Jasmine lives in Lansing with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, getting outdoors, volunteering at her church, and visiting her family up North.
